Joachim Schwichtenberg

Joachim Schwichtenberg is Head of Marketing and Communications for Board Partners and Board Academy and Head of BoardCom, an agency for boards, managers and companies, in which he provides Personal Branding Coaching and Communication Services for managers, boards and companies.

In his past Jo covered different managerial functions in the field of Marketing. As Head of PR and Marketing for the German-Dutch Chamber of Commerce in The Hague he managed all the international media and marketing activities including the seminar and event programme of the biggest business community connecting the two neighbouring countries. Back in Germany, he supported family companies with their international Public Relations and Content Marketing activities in a branding agency.

From 2002 to 2015 Joachim was in charge of Media Services and Relations at a media consultancy firm, founded by the main business associations in the German Federal State of Bavaria and located in their headquarters. Next to his managerial functions as head of the Media Services department and Vice CEO he built and developed the corporate communication of, for example, the Bavarian Foreign Trade and Wholesale Association, in which he was spokesman and advisory member of the board.

Joachim Schwichtenberg started his professional career as a radio and tv journalist. He worked as business reporter for “Antenne Bayern”, the leading private radio station in South Germany and was editor-in-chief of a special interest magazine for economic affairs. In his work as a journalist and broadcast representative of Munich-based GHM crafts fair corporation he gained insights into a wide range of companies from different sectors.

He studied law at the University of Passau, Germany, and King´s College London and added a postgraduate International MBA in Management and Communications from the WKW University of Applied Sciences in Vienna, Austria. His thesis was on “Personal Branding – How personalities become brands”: Based on his experience as a trainer preparing executives for their public speeches and interviews, he developed a method that helps managers to sharpen their personal brand profile systematically.
